Overcome with grief and shame, he burned himself inside the sacrificial fireplace. 

Enraged over the loss of Sati’s existence, Shiva sent his formidable Virabhadra to interrupt the sacrifice. Assistance, with the assistance of Siva, Daksha became forgiven and revived, and the sacrifice ended with due reverence to Siva.
