Marayoor is one of the attractions that stand out because of its world-famous sandalwood forest. It is an extensive area covered with aromatic sandalwood trees protected by the Kerala Forest Department. This is one of the few naturally grown sandalwood forests in India, making it a rare ecological wonder. 

Among many things, the most interesting historical remains of Kerala at Marayoor are Dolmens. Thousands of years old Megalithic burial grounds make the principal landscape features of these ancient human habitation areas. These Dolmens, very famously called "Muniyaras," have stone chambers that open doors to the past; hence Marayoor is a goldmine for history enthusiasts and archaeologists.
