Originally built by way of the Portuguese in 1555, it was later renovated and extended by the Dutch in 1663, which is why its miles are frequently called the Dutch Castle
The palace was constructed as a gift from Veer Kerala Varma, king of Kochi to strengthen Portuguese trade family members.
