Varkala Tunnel or Varkala Turuthu, as known locally, is a 942 m long stretch of inland waterway constructed during the British era. The most important remnant of British Raj in Varkala, the tunnel so obviously displays it 14 year-long construction. Used as a canal way to ferry goods from one to another place during pre-independence times, Varkala’s TS canal passes through this dilapidated structure. It is a must-see for everyone who visits Varkala
