History

Located in Kochi, Kerala, Willingdon Island is a charming man-made island with wealthy records. Formed during the British colonial technology in the 1930s, the island was renamed after Lord Willingdon, then Viceroy of India. The creation of the island turned into an engineering feat, constructed on clay dug up and used from Lake Vembanad

The island first evolved as a critical port and military base. The strategic importance of the path was emphasized in the Second World War
