Tripura is a state in the North East of India, the third smallest state. It shares an international border with Bangladesh, and the neighboring states are Assam and Mizoram.
The capital of Tripura is Agartala, one of the largest North-Eastern cities.
Agartala is nestled at the foothills of the Himalayas and on the banks of the Haora River, the main river in this region. It is close to the Bangladesh border. The climate is humid sub-tropical. It is an area of heavy rainfall, and the summers are long; between April and October, Agartala is hot, sunny, and wet. Winters are dry and cool between mid-November to early March. In the winters, that temperature hovers are 18deg C.
The Haora river frequently overflows during the rainy season, and Agartala city gets flooded.
