Manipur in North East India is bordered by three states. To the North is Nagaland, Mizoram to the South, and Assam to the West. Manipur shares international borders with Myanmar, the largest mainland country in South East Asia.
Imphal is the capital of Manipur and one of the most ancient cities of India.
Located in the valleys of the Manipur river, which flows into Myanmar, Imphal is surrounded by hills and has many small rivers flowing through it. The rich and fertile soil makes it a perfect place for lush, thriving orchids and foliage. It also has many swamps.
The climate is humid sub-tropical, with cool and dry winters, with a minimum temperature of 4deg. C, and hot, humid summers where the temperature can go up to 25deg.
