How to Reach Shimla from Delhi 

By Air: Shimla is serviced by the Chandigarh Airport, which is located 120 km away. A flight from Delhi to Chandigarh takes about one hour. From Chandigarh, you can take either a taxi or bus to Shimla, which takes approximately three-four hours. 

By Train: There is no direct train service between Delhi and Shimla. Nevertheless, you can board a train at New Delhi Railway Station up to Kalka Station, which is about 87.6 kilometres before Shimla. The journey from Delhi to Kalka takes 4-6 hours. The famous toy train runs from Kalka to Shimla and offers scenic travel through the mountains.

By Bus: Many buses ply this route. Some of them are luxury Volvos, while others are state-run buses. The road distance is around 341 km with approximately eight hours' drive time. 

How to Reach Shimla from Mumbai

By Air: There are no flights between Mumbai and Shimla directly, but it is more convenient to fly via Mumbai to Chandigarh than to travel by other means. Flight duration ranges between two hours and thirty minutes. Thus, this makes travelling time less than three hours, covering around 120 km distance. 

By Train: You may take a long journey by train from Mumbai up to Kalka for roughly twenty hours, whereas another five-six hour toy train trip will take you up further hilltop in Shimla.
