Mysore Zoo
Mysore zoo aka Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens has located 3 km from the City Bus Stand and just 2 km from the Mysore Palace. Set up by Maharaja Chamaraja Wodeyar, the century-old Zoo is spread over 250 acres of verdant greenery. Some of the animals housed here include striped Hyena, Jungle cat, Asiatic black bears, African Elephant. It is the only zoo in South Asia to host a Gorilla.

Trivandrum Zoo
Located near the PMG junction as an annex to the Museum by the Maharaja of Travancore, the Thiruvananthapuram, Zoo is spread over 55 acres. It is the second oldest zoo in India. Comprising lakes, lawns, and woodlands, the zoo is part of a well-landscaped botanical garden. Animals are kept mostly in open enclosures, including Indian Rhino, Asiatic Lion and the Royal Bengal Tiger. A reptile house is a special attraction of this Zoo.

Chennai Zoo
Covering 1,600 hectares and with almost 3,000 visitors a day the Arignar Anna Zoological Park or Vandalur Zoo as it is best known is the most sought after destination in Chennai after the beach. Due to abundant space and lush greenery, the animals are kept in large enclosures, thus giving them enough space to wander around. The Chennai Zoo is a specialty breeding place for the rare Lion Tailed Macaque, found only in the Western Ghats.

Hyderabad Zoo
The Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad is spread over 380 acres of lush green land. It is home to numerous species of birds, animals, reptiles, and fishes. Here you can spot the rare white-backed vultures. Some of the special attractions of the zoo include the Lion Safari and Tiger Safari Parks in an almost natural forest setting, children Train and Elephant rides.

Guwahati Zoo
Founded in 1957, Assam state zoo is the largest of its kind in the North East, The Zoo cum Botanical Garden is spread over an area of 1.75 square kilometers and located on the R. G. Baruah Road. The Assam State Zoo has a large variety of animals that includes Black-headed Oriole, Capped Langur, the great Indian One-horned Rhinoceros, Royal Bengal Tigers, Bears, Asian Elephants

Darjeeling Zoo
The Darjeeling zoo aka Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park was adjudged as the best Zoo in India in 2008. Established in 1958 the Zoo is located on the slopes of Jawahar Parbhat just below the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. Darjeeling Zoo is best known for housing some very rare animals not to be found elsewhere. These include Red Panda, Snow leopard, Tibetan wolf, Himalayan salamander, Himalayan black bears, Siberian tigers 

Nandankanan Zoo, Bhubaneshwar
Nandankanan Zoo is situated in the cordial environs of the Chandaka forest, just 25 km from Bhuvaneshwar. Covering a huge area of  362 hectares of forest area, the Zoo is most famous for its White Tiger population. The Zoo is running a successful breeding program for White Tiger, Black Panthers, Gharial Crocodiles, and Pangolin. Lion safari Tours are very popular with the visitors here. Other rare animals housed here include Manipuri Deer, Wild Ass and Hippopotamus.

Nainital Zoo
Bharat Ratna Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant High Altitude Zoo Nainital is the only Zoo in Uttarakhand state. It is located n the hills of Sher ka Danda 2 km from Tallital Bus station. This Zoo at an elevation of 2100 m above msl houses some of the animal species found only in cooler climes and includes Siberian Tigers, Himalayan Palm Civet,  Hill Fox, Snow Leopards, Silver pheasants.

Junagadh Zoo
Sakkarbaug Zoological Garden aka Sakkarbaug Zoo at Junagadh is the oldest in Gujarat being established way back in 1863 by the Nawabs from the princely state of Junagadh. Sakkarbaug Zoo houses over 500 mammals and birds along with 111 reptile species. The main claim to fame of Sakkarbaug Zoo is for its commendable work on the breeding of Asiatic lions earning it the status of the largest breeding center in the country.

Delhi Zoo
National Zoological Park(NZP) covering an area of more than 200 acres is one of the bigger zoological parks in. Setup in  1959  it has a varied mix of animals and birds. The rare Manipur Brow-antlered deer is the logo of the Delhi Zoo. The USP of the Delhi Zoo is well kept and large enclosures. Hoolock Gibbon, White Tiger, White Buck are some of its prized possessions.
