Jaisamand Lake

The second-largest artificial lake in Asia is Jaisamand Lake which spans an area of about 100 sq. km. and is also in the country after Govind Ballabh Patel Sagar. This lake is also known as Dhebar Lake situated in Udaipur Rajasthan. Maharana Jai Singh built this lake in 1685 during the construction of a dam on the Gomti River.

It is surrounded by the Jaisamand Wildlife Sanctuary which is home to a variety of rare animals and migratory birds. The summer palaces of Queens of Udaipur also form a beautiful backdrop. Situated in seamlessly beautiful surroundings, it is a place to rejoice. 

On its marble dam, there are six cenotaphs and a temple dedicated to Shiva at the centre. The temple is proof that the people of Mewar were conscious of their worship rituals. Locals know it by the name of Dhebar Lake as well.

Summer (March to June): 

Temperature: Ranges between 30°C to 45°C.

Weather: A dry, hot climate with high daytime temperatures. Though still pleasant, the nights are getting chilly. To protect yourself from the sun, it's imperative to wear loose, comfortable clothing, caps, sunglasses, and sunscreen.

Monsoon (July to September): 

Temperature: Ranges between 25°C to 35°C.

Weather: High humidity and moderate to heavy rainfall. In contrast to summer, the temperatures are lower. It is recommended that you pack light, water-resistant clothing and an umbrella.

Winter (October to February): 

Temperature: Ranges between 10°C to 25°C.

Weather:  It is mild and comfortable throughout the day, but gets colder in the evenings and early mornings. It's best to wear light to medium-sized woollens, especially on chilly evenings.

How to Reach 

It is located at a distance of 50 km from the central city of Udaipur and takes around an hour to reach. Hence, local buses, taxis, auto-rickshaws, and tongas can be hired from any part of the town to reach Jaisamand Lake.
