Naina Devi Temple is one of the well-known Sakti Peeths of the Hindu Religion. This temple stands on one side of the beautiful Naini Lake and is a very famous tourist destination in Nainital.  The history of this temple says that the Maa Naina Devi Temple gets its name from the Goddess Sati’s eyes which we call Nayan in Hindi.

The eyes of Devi fell at this place when Lord Vishnu cut her body into 51 different parts.  The whole town (Nainital), the lake (Naini Lake) and the Naini temple, all three of them are named after the legend. The Naina Devi Temple is considered one of the most sacred temples in the country showering blessings on devotees from all over the world.

The temple is surrounded by the range of the Himalayas as it is guarded by the highest peak Mt. Nanda Devi is believed to be the sister of Goddess Naina Devi. Nainital Tour Packages offered by Kiomoi make your visit to this holy temple all the more tempting.

The premises within the temple stand an old Peepal tree guarding the temple and providing shelter to the pilgrims. As we walk inside the temple there is the standing idol of Lord Hanuman who gives blessings and protects the goddess.

In the womb of the temple, there are two Nayan(eyes) in the centre which represent Naina Devi, Mata Kali to the left and Lord Ganesha to the right. Visitors can capture beautiful photos with two lion statues which represent the vehicle called “Vahaan” of the Goddess and guard the temple.  The distance between Naini Lake and Naina Devi Temple is about only 1 Km which will take you only 1-2 minutes to reach here.
