Panchavati is situated in Nashik and plays a very important role in the geography and the history of India, more so in the Ramayana. The term Panchavati stands for five banyan trees (here panch means five and vati stands for banyan trees) sacred for a culture. Lord Rama, it is believed, along with Sita Mata and Lakshmana ji, went into the forests of Panchavati and spent some of the fourteen years in exile there. This age-old region today is amongst the most popular centres of pilgrimage in th
