Barabati Fort

The Barbati Fort in Cuttack in Oddisa is a well-known place in Cuttack Tourism with a beautiful carved gateway. It is a 14th-century fort built by the Marakata Keshari of the Somavanshi (Keshari) dynasty. The fort is situated on the river Mahanadi with sandstone and laterite. The fort is situated at such a calculated place that it provides a beautiful and spectacular view of the modern Cuttack City. The monument was built on an earthen slope with fortifications to protect it from enemy attacks. In present days a nearby Barbati stadium is built for cultural and various sports events. Cuttack Chandi Temple

The Cuttack Chandi Temple is one of the oldest temples to worship the goddess Chandi who is considered the deity of Cuttack City in Odisha. The temple is situated near the bank of the Mahanadi River. It is famous for the Durga Puja and Kali Puja festivals. Durga puja is particularly celebrated in Maa Cuttack Chandi temple where the festival remains to continue for 16 days from the dark fortnight of Ashwina Krishna Ashtami to Ashwina Shukla Navami and Vijayadashami. Coming to the present location, ‘The Goddess’ locally named ‘Maa Katak Chandi’ resides in the core of this archaic city. Maa Chandi is considered ‘The Living Goddess’ by the people of this place. This temple is one of the oldest of its types and is visited by 20 lakh and more devotees per annum. Here devotees pray to Goddess Kata Chandi and she is called the goddess of this Silver City. 


State Botanical Garden 

The State Botanical Garden is located in the moist deciduous forest of the vast green Nandankanan sanctuary located between two wetlands. The Botanical Garden was inaugurated in the year 1963 and was a part of the Horticulture Department. The management of the State Botanical Garden was shifted to Nandankanan on the 1st of August 2006. One would be impressed the nature’s symphony and the exquisite touch of the wilderness here. That is why it can be stated that this is one of the oldest plant conservation and nature education centers in the State. This garden is sure to offer an amazing experience to lovers of green territory. You can also see Kiakani Lake and the Nandankanan Wildlife Sanctuary in the garden. There are 24 satellite gardens and it is spread over an undivided area that includes slopes with natural vegetation and meadows. Netaji Birthplace Museum

Take a look into the life of one of the most iconic leaders of freedom fighters Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Netaji Birthplace Museumis the ancestral house of Subhas Chandra Bose in Oriya Bazaar in Cuttack. Janakinath Bhawan is the house where Netaji lived which is now it is a museum. Here you get an opportunity to follow up on his life history right from his childhood to the freedom fighter days. It is one of the most beautifully converted museums having an exclusive collection of antique items, books, documents, articles, and other furniture belonging to Netaji. You can also see 22 handwritten letters from Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, for his family and to other leaders. The museum also has a horse cart that once belonged to his family. Mahanadi Barrage

The Mahanadi Barrage in Cuttack is a major hydraulic engineering work depending on the Mahanadi River one of the prominent rivers of East Central India. The barrage is vital for irrigation, flood control, and water consumption for Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, and other areas. This barrage was developed in the year 2003 with the primary purpose of the barrage being important support for agricultural activities and needing the purpose of flood control. Odisha State Maritime Museum shows the trades and customs, relics, boats, and the pride and achievements of age from the ancient to the colonial period of Odisha. Another part of the museum displays fully functional aquariums of the specific fish and other species that are inherent in the state. The galleries contain 10 galleries that depict the maritime artifacts of early Kalinga including the antiquated paraphernalia of the workshop. It has an introduction gallery where there are pictures of boats from the ancient period till today and brief writings on the developmental phases of boats. It has the country-made boats and then the cargo boats, including the fighter boats to deal with the pirates. Other galleries depict the parts making up navigations such as propellants, anchors and funnels among which are some of the important aspects of power boats. Biju Patnaik Park     

Visiting the Biju Patnaik Park is one of the best things to do in Cuttack. This park was developed and named after the Late Shri Bijayananda Patnaik otherwise known as Biju Patnaik and ex-Chief Minister of Orissa. This park takes an estimated land of approximately 23 acres and covers ideal big trees, an extended green view, and sweet-smelling rosaries. The park also has jogging tracks, a children’s area, and gyms as part of the amenities that have been included. In addition to these, others include activity centers, Float Mountain, and Musical Fountain. Another amenity which is also offered in the park is a boating facility.
