How to Reach Jowai from Guwahati 

By Road: Reach Jowai from Guwahati by road in the most convenient way. A distance of 140 km with the journey taking about 5 to 6 hours dependent on road conditions. Drive to Jowai is possible with a private taxi that can be hired or shared using a taxi. Alternatively, reach Jowai by driving on the bus from Paltan Bazaar in the city of Guwahati. 


By Train: If you prefer train travel, then the nearest railway station is Guwahati Railway Station and from Jowai one can reach up to this station either by hiring a taxi or bus from the railway station. Though you like travelling by train, you would need to take the rest of the journey by road only.

By Air: If you fly to Guwahati, you can avail taxi or bus ride to reach to Jowai from Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport. The road distance from the airport to Jowai takes nearly 5 to 6 hours but is worth it if one can get great views of the countryside while driving through to reach Jowai.


How to Reach Jowai from Barapani

By Road: Jowai is 60 kilometers from Barapani, Umiam Lake. This road journey takes about 2 to 3 hours with the most scintillating scenic beauty of rolling hills, valleys, and quaint Khasi villages. It is very easy to hire a private taxi or get on a local bus from Barapani to Jowai. The road is good, and there are many places to click pictures and relish the views.


By Train: Barapani does not have direct rail connectivity, so the nearest railway station from Barapani would be Guwahati railway station. From Guwahati, one may hail a taxi or catch a bus to reach Barapani, which would be some 30-minute distance before proceeding to Jowai through the road. Travelling by train has a longer route and is in the comfort for passengers; therefore, it takes pleasure, as it's comfortable too.


By Air: Although Barapani does not have an airport, the nearest airport is Guwahati. From Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, you can reach Barapani by taxi or bus and then reach Jowai by road. The distance from the airport to Barapani is 1 hour, and the road to Jowai is equally beautiful and smooth.
