How To Reach

Spiti Valley is called the “Little Tibet,” a cold desert mountain valley that features scenic landscapes, ancient Monasteries and unique cultural experiences. If you’re thinking of taking a trip to this place, here’s an informative guide on how to reach Spiti Valley.

By Road

How To Reach Spiti Valley From Delhi:

The distance between Delhi and Spiti Valley is about 734 km. There are two basic routes to reach Spiti from Delhi;

Via Shimla: This route remains open throughout the year, and it is conducive to acclimatisation due to gradual ascent. The course can be taken as follows: Delhi – Shimla – Narkanda – Rampur – Kalpa – Nako – Tabo – Kaza. It will take approximately 16-18 hours by car or bus.

Via Manali: Shorter in length, this route can only be used during summer months (June to October) because heavy snowfall during winter makes it impassable; that is Delhi-Manali-Rohtang Pass-Kunzum Pass-Kaza. It takes around 12 -14 hours to reach Manali and subsequently another 6-8 hours from Manali to Kaza.

How To Reach Spiti Valley From Mumbai:

The distance between Mumbai and Spiti Valley is approximately 2,075 km. One should fly directly into Chandigarh or New Delhi before proceeding by road into Spiti Valley via any of the above-mentioned routes.

By Air

Unfortunately, Spiti has no air connectivity of its own. However, Bhuntar(Kullu), Shimla and Chandigarh airports are nearby where a taxi can be hired to take one to Spiti Valley or a bus can be taken.

Bhuntar Airport (Kullu): Bhuntar is around 245 kilometres away from Kaza
