Chandratalsarovar, also known as "Chandrasarovar", is a high-altitude lake located in the Spiti Valley in Himachal Pradesh, India. At an altitude of about 4300 meters (14,100 feet), this ancient lake is known for its crescent moon and beautiful blue water, which is a reflection of the surrounding snow-capped mountains.
The lake is a popular holiday destination for travellers who can enjoy Spiti Valley tour, nature lovers and photographers due to its serene splendour and remote location. The journey to Chandratal Lake is a bit of a strenuous walk which usually starts offevolved from Manali, passing through beautiful views of Lahaul and Spiti.
The trek offers views of the Himalayas, alpine meadows and wastelands. The journey usually takes 2-3 days depending on the route and speed. The road from Manali to Chandratal Lake distance is about 140 km by road use and takes 6-8 hours around depending on the road conditions. The return journey from Chandratal Lake to Manali travels the same distance.

How to Reach
Chandratal Lake is located in the Spiti Valley, Himachal Pradesh. From Manali, it's about 123 km via the NH3 and the Leh-Manali Highway. The route passes through Rohtang Pass and takes around 6-7 hours. Key toll plazas include the Kullu-Manali Toll (Rs.100 for cars) and Rohtang Pass (Rs.50 environmental fee). The terrain is rough, especially from Batal, with narrow, steep roads. Vehicles like SUVs are recommended. The drive offers stunning views but requires caution due to the challenging roads. Ensure your vehicle is well-prepared for high-altitude conditions.
