The Mysuru Palace which is also known as the Amba Vilas Palace or Mysore Palace is a historical palace in the city of Mysore in Karnataka. This palace was constructed by the English Architect Henry Irwin. The Palace has four entrances. The main entrance is called “Jaya Maarthaanda” to the east, “Jayarama” to the North, ”Balarama” to the South and “Varaha” to the west.
This palace is a three-storied structure in the Indo-Saracenic style and was built in the 14th century between 1897 to 1912. The palace has beautifully designed square towers at cardinal points, covered with domes. Its grand front, complex interiors and beautiful gardens make it a must-visit destination.
The Durbar Hall with its ornate ceiling and sculpted pillars and the Kalyanamantapa (marriage pavilion) with its glazed tiled flooring and stained glass, domed ceiling are worth noting. The palace is renowned for its opulent decorations, such as ornate ceilings, elegant arches, and extremely good stained glass home windows.

From Mysore Airport: Mysore has a small domestic airport, which is around 10 km (6 miles) from the palace.
From Bangalore Airport: Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) in Bangalore is the nearest major airport. It’s about 170 km (105 miles) from Mysore. From there, you can hire a taxi, take a bus, or drive to Mysore.
An outstanding collection of royal antiquities and artefacts is kept in the palace. With nearly 95,000 lightbulbs shining on it during Dussehra, the outside is particularly spectacular.
