History: In between the mid-seventeenth and late nineteenth century, Old Delhi was the capital of Muslim India. Delhi was formed the capital of an autonomous empire by the Tomars in 736 A.D. Towards the end of the twelfth century; Delhi was incarcerated by the Muslim emperors. By 1803 A.D. Delhi came into the hands of the British. In 1911, Delhi was made the capital of the British Empire. Subsequent to India's freedom in 1956 Delhi was transformed into a Union territory and continued to be the capital of the Indian Territory.
