Places To Visit In Dwarka

Dwarka, a place of ancient history and culture that, according to legend, was founded by Lord Krishna, holds great significance not only for pilgrims but also for beach lovers and people interested in cultural things. For instance, if your mission is spiritual or simply leisure in nature, you are bound to be attracted by various places in Dwarka that will mesmerise you. Let’s explore the places to visit in Dwarka Gujarat.

Dwarkadhish Temple
The Jagat Mandir, or the Dwarkadhish Temple, is the most important temple in the city. Anyone who has been there can attest to this fact, given that it attracts both worshippers and tourists alike. Overlooking Gomti River stands a beautiful five-storied temple that rests on 72 pillars and is dedicated to Lord Krishna. The temple, built around 200 BCE, is among the most ancient architectural wonders ever seen or heard of anywhere else on earth as far as worshipping God is concerned. It forms part of what is known as Char Dham and comprises Badrinath, Puri, and Rameswaram. This spiritual atmosphere, coupled with fine carvings all over its body, makes it one of India’s most treasured temples, architecturally speaking.

Nageshwar Jyotirlinga
Nageshwar Jyotirlinga Temple happens to be one of those twelve Jyotirlingas that exist in honour of Lord Shiva. The 80 ft height of Lord Shiva statue is simply heaven and the contemplative atmosphere of this temple provides an ideal environment for meditation or prayers. It is believed that the temple stands in the Darukavana forest, where demons inhabited earlier. Here, Lord Shiva appeared to save his devotees from Daruka (a demon) and then built a temple to remember this incident. The temple is located 19 km from Dwarka city, and the times are: Morning – 6:00 AM to 12:30 PM & Evening – 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM.

Rukmini Mandir
Rukmini Mandir pays homage to Rukmini, who was none other than Krishna’s first wife. This architectural masterpiece has fine carvings showing different gods, goddesses, Ganeshas, elephants, etc. As per myth, there was once a time when Durvasa Muni cursed Rukmini, saying that she would have to live distantly from her husband, so her mandir lay outside Dwarkadhish Temple. It’s situated at some distance of approximately 2.5 km away from Dwarka city. The beautifully carved panels and the ritual of Jaal Daan (offering water) are the main highlights of this temple.

Dwarka Beach
Dwarka Beach is a cool and serene place that allows you to relax with the beauty of the Arabian Sea. The gentle sea waves and golden sands form a perfect background for evening relaxation. Dwarka Beach Dwarka Gujarat is admired by local communities as well as tourists, thus providing a peaceful atmosphere away from the city’s hassles and hustle and bustle. In effect, this is an ideal dusk walk destination or place for slow movements.

Shivrajpur Beach

Its recent Blue Flag certification has made it more famous because of its environmental and safety standards. Swimming, sunbathing, and water sports are some of the activities that visitors can indulge themselves in while on this beach. There are various adventure activities one can get involved in, including snorkelling, scuba diving or even taking tours around islands. It is 12 km away from Dwarka. Sudama Setu
The Sudama Setu is an example of a pedestrian suspension bridge located in Dwarka, Gujarat. It was named after Sudama, a childhood friend of Lord Krishna. With a span of 166 metres and a width of 4.2 metres, the bridge links Dwarkadhish Temple, located on the mainland and Panchkui Tirth, which is a holy island with five freshwater springs connected to the Pandava brothers from Mahabharata. Completed in 2016 following its approval in 2005, the construction of this bridge was done by Reliance Industries in conjunction with the Gujarat Tourism Department. The main purpose for building it was to boost tourism and develop a safe movement corridor for pilgrims who had been relying on a boat crossing across the Gomti River in order to access sacred sites at ancient Dwarka. Sudama Setu presents stunning scenes that include the Dwarkadhish temple, the Gomti River, and the Arabian Sea, which attract many people, especially during winter seasons when it serves as a camel ride/ATV spot for tourists.

Bhadkeshwar Mahadev Temple
In the Arabian Sea around which it is situated, Bhadkeshwar Mahadev Temple is an old shrine belonging to Lord Shiva featuring a self-manifested Shivaling surrounded by water from all sides except for a narrow strip that connects it to the mainland. This temple provides an extraordinary spiritual experience during high tide because, at that moment, it looks like it is floating in the sea. It is located close to the confluence of Gomti and Arabian Sea, making it ideal for those who are interested in calmness and spirituality.

Geeta Mandir
Geeta Mandir was built by Birlas in 1970 AD as a grand temple dedicated to the preservation of Bhagavadgita’s teachings among others. The temple is constructed with white marbles, and possesses many intricate designs while remaining a peaceful place for meditation. Close to central part of Dwarka town stands this temple that is preferred by individuals seeking spiritual uprightness and serenity.

Swaminarayan Mandir
The addition of Swaminarayan Mandir into Dwarka’s spiritual sphere could be viewed as something relatively new. The structure has been designed so intricately that every inch of its interior features gardens well-kept within its compound, besides magnificent architectural styles adorning this temple, dedicated to Lord Swaminarayan himself.

Iskcon Temple Dwarka

Devotees from all over the world visit the temple to participate in these activities and festivals.
