Great Rann of Kutch is itself one of the largest salt deserts in the globe and is spread over an area of about 7500 sq km. The terrain makes for a fantastic experience, especially when it’s at night, and one is walking on the salt plains during a full moon; the plains reflect a silvery light. Rann of Kutch festival booking should be done in advance to book your spot as it is famous among tourists. It is held in winter since the climatic conditions at this period of the year are pleasant. This is the best time to go around the desert and experience the cultures of the people.

A major feature of the Kutch festival is the cultural dances of the people of Gujarat. The area of the festival is lively folk performances, where artists of different regions dance Garba, Dandiya, and Bhavai. Although the Kutch Rann Utsav is famous for its cultural display, it is also full of adventure-based activities. Riding camels is another fun way of covering the white desert, which affords an excellent view of the salt plains. Jeeping and para-motoring are thrilling to adventure lovers since these activities offer relatively different views of the desert. You can also indulge in hot air balloon rides and get a splendid look at Rann, especially during the sunrise and sunset.

The core feature of the festival is the so-called Tent City, which is a temporary city made out of comfortable and luxurious tents for guests. The tents are decorated with some of the creature comforts such as air conditioning and all this is located in the middle of the desert.

Gujarat Tourism welcomes you to Kutch, which is well-known for its craftspeople. Specializations are in embroidery, mirrors, and bandhani—a tie-dye technique. Some artisans who set up stalls at the festival come from other villages, bringing with them original products that can be bought as souvenirs.
