Bomdila Monastery which is also known as the Gentse Gaden Rabgyel Lling Monastery was constructed in 1965 and is one of the most famous monasteries of Arunachal Pradesh. It is the 12th rebirth of Tsona Gontse Rinpoche the monastery is a reflection of Tibetan architecture and culture. It is an important place of worship and meditation for the local Buddhist community and is associated with the Mahayana Buddhist sect.
The monastery is divided into three sections: the Upper Gompa, Middle Gompa and Lower Gompa. The Upper Gompa is the most important with houses of prayer halls with a large statue of Lord Buddha.
