During the summers the temperature is high shooting up as high as 38°C. Generally, the summers are dry and windy starting from mid-February to May. The minimum temperature noted during the period is 7°C.
The monsoon season begins from May and ending up in September when the climate is warm and humid. Every year during the monsoons the Brahmaputra River overflows, flooding the low-lying grasslands and as a result, the animals migrate to higher areas within the Kaziranga National Park. These seven months i.e. May to October are considered as the offseason and the sanctuary is closed.
During the winter months i.e. from November to mid-February, the weather is mild and dry. The maximum and minimum temperatures during the season are observed to be 25°C and 5°C respectively. November to April is considered as the best time to visit the Kaziranga National Park.
