What to do while in Kaziranga
1- One should wear clothes that cover the legs and arms fully as you may come in contact with wild plants and insects, leading to severe allergies. Another good option will be to wear layers of clothes in the jungle.
2- Be calm at all times in the jungle as this helps to relax the animals as well. Keep your excitement and enthusiasm under wraps.
3- Always stay with your jungle guide and the group.
4- Always carry the bare minimum things required. Avoid taking a lot of stuff in the jungle, some expeditions are exhausting and the extra equipments create a ruckus and also make you feel tired soon.
5- Carry some basic medicines, in case you are allergic to animal fur or dust.
6- Be prepared with a good camera and stock up on the extra film before embarking on the expedition. Also, consult the jungle guide before taking pictures or shooting videos.
7- One should carry insect and mosquito repellant creams, band-aids, water bottle, first aid kit, small torch, antiseptic creams, raincoats, personal hygiene products and the like
8- Maintaining absolute silence during elephant rides, during vehicle safari or wildlife watch towers is advised.
What not to do while in Kaziranga
1- One cannot predict how the animals will behave once you feed them and stop. Also, it changes the eating habits of the creatures of the jungle.
2- The jungle is home to several wild animals and it is best not to leave any litter behind, especially plastic.
3- Do is not ignorant or lax if you observe irresponsible behavior on part of the staff or visitors and report the authorities as soon as possible.
4- In an attempt to observe animals better, do not get too close. You will either scare them away or invite retaliation. Also, do not try to make friends with the wild animals in the jungle.
5- The jungle is not the place for hearty conversations and discussions. Keep conversation restricted to the safari/expedition and avoid talking in a loud tone.
6- Do not prance about collecting samples of stones, leaves and bird feathers in the jungle.
7- It is not wise to bring infants and small children in the jungle as they often find it hard to retain calm thereby scaring away the shy animals.
8- Do not create a ruckus while taking pictures and shooting videos. Keep the flash mode off and you will do everybody a favor.
9- Avoid using and leaving behind any combustible substances in the jungle.
10- Do not carry cellphones in the jungle or keep them switched off during the course of the safari.
11-Do not disturb or aggravate the animals by throwing stones and trying to grab their attention.
